My first decade since the inception of G Hanna Real Estate

Nelson Mandela said “The greatest glory in living and surviving lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”.

While the turbulent times can cause some agents to turn their backs on the Real Estate industry, I believe that having a pragmatic attitude is the key to enduring and withstanding these challenges, and weathering any market downturn.

March 7th 2023 marks my first decade running my own G Hanna Real Estate business, as well as a quarter of a century in the real estate industry.

The significant milestone comes after getting through several historic events that hindered the market, including the Global Financial Crisis (GFC) of 2008 and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite these difficult times throughout my extensive career, nothing has hindered my passion for the industry, nor stopped me from offering my voluntary & professional guidance to my clients, those local, interstate, and abroad. It has been particularly rewarding knowing I have been able to help.

In 1998, I started my real estate career with The Professionals and later with Ray White. Once I obtained my license in 2002, I stepped into my new role as a Licensee with Border RE till 2007. I subsequently performed the same role with Star Realty from 2007 to 2013, during the period when the GFC surfaced in 2008, rattling the whole Financial Industry & Real Estate market.

When I first started in this industry, I always had a tremendous passion to build a successful career. I always ensured my clients were well informed and well looked after, while I managed the two offices between 2002-2013. I wanted to always be a mentor and adviser to both new agents, new business owners and most importantly, my clients.

In March 2013, I commenced my own business G Hanna Real Estate. It taught me what it takes to survive the peaks and troughs as the market changes. 2020 was the year the world changed, with the first pandemic most of us got to experience in our lifetime. It brought plenty of uncertainty and anxiety, but it also taught many, myself included, what it means to be truly resilient on many levels. With COVID-19 creating so much fear, I was determined for my business not to be collateral damage. I had no intent to close my doors and exit the industry. Instead, it motivated me to put my head down, work harder and stick to the basics to guide my business through it.

Looking back at the industry, a lot has changed over the last quarter of a century. I recall the classified ads in The West Australian and the Sunday Times, and the wonder of colour photos in display ads at shop fronts and in the REIWA Home Buyer Magazine. This was then followed by the evolution of the internet property platforms and digital campaigns.

While I still oversee a select group of clients and do the occasional sales, my main focus nowadays is educating and mentoring buyers, sellers and the public. This is reflected in my carefully chosen newsletter articles as well as on my website www.ghanna.com.au.

Despite the challenges of recent years and as we now continue to face price fluctuations, the interest rate rises and the ‘fixed-rate cliff’ which emerging as one of the biggest potential risks to housing market values, and overall stability in 2023 , in the short term, we may not be able to predict the obstacles ahead of us in the years to come but I still feel confident in being able to ride the next storm and take it as a challenge to grow further, both professionally and personally.

We are lucky to live in a state where the dream of home ownership is very much alive, with WA continuing to have some of the most affordable housing in the country. In the last few years, the WA market recovered strongly and has not regressed since, remaining affordable for many West Australians.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank every single person I have met on my journey. Every interaction has been an opportunity to help me grow. I look forward to serving the Real Estate community in every way I can. I look forward to meeting clients, both loyal & new, and I’m excited for what the next chapter has in store for me.

Here’s to another decade of G Hanna Real Estate!

Thank you all.
